BIDEN SAYS HE'S 'THE FIRST BLACK WOMAN TO SERVE WITH A BLACK PRESIDENT'. THEN HARRIS SLIPS UP

U.S. President Joe Biden stumbled over his words during an interview on Philadelphia radio Thursday, seeming to refer to himself as the “first Black woman to serve with a Black President.”

The gaffe came near the end of a 15-minute discussion with WURD’s Andrea Lawful-Sanders. “By the way, I’m proud to be, as I said, the first Vice-President, first Black woman, to serve with a Black President. Proud to be involved in the first Black woman on the Supreme Court. There’s so much that we can do because together … this is the United States of America, there’s nothing beyond our capacity if we work together.”

Though garbled, the reference seemed to be both to Kamala Harris as the first Black Vice-President, and to Biden’s own term as Vice-President under Barack Obama, as well as his appointment to the Supreme Court of Ketanji Brown-Jackson in 2022.

Later in the day, Harris accidentally started to refer to Joe Biden as the Vice-President during an event at the White House, although her boss seemed to laugh off the remark.

During the Independence Day event, and with Biden still under a cloud from his poor performance during a debate against Donald Trump last week, Harris introduced the President: “And we give thanks to our commander-in-chief, the Vice — the President of the United States, the extraordinary President of the United States, Joe Biden.”

Biden then lifted a microphone to his mouth to respond: “Ho ho ho! Happy Independence Day!” Many on social media seized on that clip, reminding the president that it was the fourth of July and not Christmas.

Biden also spoke on July 4 to military service members on the White House South Lawn. When someone in the crowd shouted “Keep up the fight” at the end of his remarks he replied: “You got me, man! I’m not going anywhere.”
